I’d like to outline 4 tips that will really help you stay motivated on your quest to lose weight. Let’s dive in!

Tip #1 – Ramp it Up – Real change happens over time. This fact isn’t very glamorous, but it’s absolutely true. You should have a plan in place to lose weight, and celebrate each tiny little victory you have. Start out very small, and just focus on building up a little at a time. Don’t go for the monster workout on day 1, just make a commitment to go for a walk. Once you get in the habit of walking, you can make it a little more intense. A little bit every day wins every time. The same thing goes for eating: don’t try to completely change your diet overnight – you want be happy and I can almost guarantee you will fail. Instead, start by deciding to cut out donuts in the morning, or to cut out cokes. By implementing changes slowly over time, you will have a much better chance of staying motivated.

Tip #2 – Always Keep Food Around – Creating a sense of panic about food only leads to bad things, like eating junk. To combat this, make sure you have a supply of healthy snacks for weight loss always around. Don’t be afraid to stock your car and your area at work or school with healthy snacks. A funny thiing happens when you know there’s always food around: you won’t crave it as much!

Tip #3 – Track Your Progress – How will you know when you get there if you don’t know where you’re going? First you need a plan to lose weight, and then you need to track that progress over time. The longer you do this, the easier it will get. I promise! Just get started and be absolutely pig-headed about not quitting.

Tip #4 – It’s Not All About Weight Loss – Ok, we haven’t met, but I’m willing to make a guess: if you’re fighting with weight issues, I would bet there’s something else going on in your life that you need to address. Stress from work, shame about something, depression, and countless other issues can lead you to eat more than you need. Your issues and demons may be tough to face, but if you find and address the SOURCE of your eating habits, you will be incredibly motivated! This is one of the most difficult (but effective) tips for weight loss motivation I can offer.

NaturalWeightLossHQ.com Reader Submission:

The following is a submission from long time reader Steve Halbeck, from Texas:

“For the majority of people, maintaining weight is something they rarely think about. For them it is simply a way of life. Yet the fast paced life that we live with little time taken to eat properly is making the number of people who suffer from weight gain climb to new heights. So how are these people supposed to get back to a life of being fit and what weight loss motivation is best for them?

All forms of media have become inundated with promises of instant weight loss. As many will attest to, most of these weight loss ideas are based on folly or even health threatening ingredients. As for weight loss motivation, suffice it to say that one size does not fit all.

Weight gain can be caused by any number of factors. Some of them are even medical related and need to be treated by a well informed physician. Other people eat out of loneliness using food to fill the void in their lives. Still others have become such junk food junkies, that they have lost all semblance of a proper diet. Before weight lossmotivation can be successful, it needs to be suited for the reason you are overweight.

Once you have delved into the reasons or reasons why your weight has gotten so out of control, you can begin to take steps to lose it. Weight loss motivation is simply that. It is being motivated to lose the weight you have gained. With the proper mindset, you can attain your weight loss goal but it will take persistence, determination, and patience.

Never be satisfied with just existing. Many obese people are overweight due to a lack of physical exercise. Their job may require that they sit all day at a desk or a computer and do little else. Upon arriving home, a woman has supper to prepare for the family and children to get ready for bed. The man may have a list of things he must get done and often brings work home with him. No one realizes the importance of taking even fifteen minutes to indulge in a brisk walk and the calories it could burn if done faithfully each day.

Weight loss motivation depends greatly on diet. If you are motivated to fill your life with healthy low calorie foods, there is no doubt that you will begin to lose weight. Grabbing that quick burger on the run does little but adds a ton of fat calories to your waistline. It does little to maintain a feeling of fullness and satisfaction. Soon you are hungry again and adding more bad calories to your system. So few people even stop to think how much good food they could eat, feel fully satisfied, and still ingest fewer calories.

If you are to have a true weight loss motivation, you mat be required to become a bit selfish. You need time for yourself. You will need time to shop for and prepare healthy foods. Time to spend burning off some of those excess calories will be a must. There is no need to spend a fortune at a fancy gym. You can walk, jog, skip rope and engage in any activity burns calories. If you have a determined mindset, weight loss will be yours!”

I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed reading this today, and I hope you’ve gotten some very real weight loss motivation from it. Not get out there and take some action!
